E-Bike Safety Advocate Beth Black Appointed to ABEA’s Board of Directors
Irvine, Calif. – August 14, 2025 – The American Bicycling Education Association (ABEA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Beth Black to its Board of Directors, effective immediately. A former e-bike store owner, she brings a wealth of experience and a passionate commitment to promoting safe and responsible e-biking to the organization.
Black is the visionary behind the Bellemont Project, which provides comprehensive strategic planning focused on enhancing e-bike safety in communities across the nation. Her dedication to innovative and proactive approaches tosolving e-bike safety challenges has made her a leader in the field. The Bellemont Project’s Incline Program, which is being piloted in Marin County this fall, is set to deliver an innovative behavior-management initiative that will empowerlocal leaders to increase the efficacy of their diversion programs serving teens cited for misconduct on e-bikes. The program will also help current e-bike safety courses offered in schools to motivate proper riding conduct on e-bikes.
“I am honored to join the Board of Directors for the ABEA,” Black said. “I look forward to working with this esteemed organization to further our shared mission of empowering bicyclists and promoting a civil and cooperative environment for all who use our transportation network,” she said. “The ABEA stands above the rest in that the courses and resources they provide are designed and implemented by veteran professionals.”
Black’s appointment comes as ABEA continues to expand its educational programs and resources, including the groundbreaking CyclingSavvy® course. This signature program created by ABEA teaches people how to make bicycling safe, enjoyable, and truly useful, with a special focus on e-bike safety for teens. A new Spanish-language version recently launched online.
