AMERICAN BICYCLING EDUCATION ASSOCIATION (ABEA) AND PEDEGO ELECTRIC BIKES ANNOUNCE BICYCLE SAFETY & EDUCATION INITIATIVE TO DELIVER EBIKE TRAINING TO RIDERS THROUGHOUT NORTH AMERICA
ABEA’s CyclingSavvy programs and materials will be available at Pedego Resellers and online.
Fountain Valley, CA – (January 2023) – Pedego Electric Bikes, the market share leader in electric bicycle sales, announced the sponsorship of a comprehensive national bicycle safety program during the company’s recent North American resellers gathering in San Diego, California.
With the enormous growth of the electric bicycle market, and with consumers increasingly choosing ebikes for pleasure, commuting, and sport, Pedego is taking a leadership role in raising safety awareness and promoting rider education through its extensive resellers network throughout North America.
“We are committed to being the leader in ebike safety and are thrilled to partner with the American Bicycling Education Association (ABEA),” said Don DiCostanzo, Pedego’s founder and CEO.
“The CyclingSavvy curriculum is the best in the industry,” DiCostanzo continued. “We are making CyclingSavvy and PowerSavvy bicycling education available for free through every Pedego store for every customer in the Pedego family.
“If we just save one life, it will be worth it,” added DiCostanzo.
CyclingSavvy is a program of hands-on and online courses designed to remove barriers to bicycling. From essential safety skills to mastery of our complex road systems and conditions, CyclingSavvy offers a complete toolkit for the American bicyclist to travel anywhere they want to go, safely and confidently, by bicycle.
Pedego electric bicycle resellers will be given the tools to teach bicycle safety classes in their stores at no cost to customers, while Pedego bicycle owners will have access to free online courses.
This Pedego sponsorship will give ABEA much-needed resources to create more electric bike content to address the growth of the ebike marketplace.
“We teach bicyclists to thrive in the existing environment,” explained Keri Caffrey, CyclingSavvy co-founder. “Our courses are designed to give them the tools they need to ride where they want, on their own terms. From bikeways, to quiet streets, to complicated, intimidating intersections, we show people how to ride with ease and joy and be in charge of their own safety.”
Caffrey continued: “With the growth of ebike popularity, and the increasing capabilities of ebikes, it is more important than ever for riders to understand risks, improve their skills, and avoid crashes. We are extremely excited about Pedego sponsoring these essential programs. Their diverse customer base and ability to reach a large audience with bicycle safety education and training tools will benefit bicycling for years to come.”
CyclingSavvy also offers free courses for group riders, as well as premium courses to master the commute across city, suburban and rural infrastructures. Advanced certifications for experts and instructors are available online at CyclingSavvy.org.
